Carosello Barese Slug

As carosello dry out in the process of getting ready to extract seed, sometimes strange things can occur. In this case the inner covering of the seeds, or the placenta, is nearly completely intact - leaving the observer to only imagine that I pulled a sea cucumber or sea slug out of one of my cucumber-melons.

The slug makes its way slowly...

from one cucumber...

to another.

It is definitely reminiscent of the banana slugs I used to find as a kid in the Santa Cruz mountains.

And here are the left over seeds that the slug didn't eat.
